Thank you so much, DrMedic87! Thats exactly the kind of advice I was hoping for. Can you tell me more about how it works and what kinds of side effects I should be prepared for?

Of course! Prednisone works by reducing inflammation in your body, which can alleviate symptoms like swelling and pain that are common with asthma attacks or other conditions. It does this by suppressing the immune system, but remember this also means you need to be extra cautious about infections.
Common side effects:
- Increased appetite: This is very common, so try not to overeat.
- Mood changes: Some people feel more irritable or anxious when starting Prednisone. If these symptoms are severe, speak with your doctor.
- Sleep disturbances: You might find it harder to sleep at night; try going to bed and waking up at the same time each day to help regulate this.
Serious side effects:
- Bone density loss: Make sure youre getting enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet or discuss supplements with your doctor.
- High blood pressure: Keep an eye on your BP readings and report any significant changes to your healthcare provider.

Wow, thank you so much for the detailed information! I didn't realize there were so many things to keep in mind. How do I go about ordering the medication? Should it be a prescription?
Posted by: DrMedic87
Yes, Prednisone is definitely a prescription medication, and youll need one from your doctor before you can purchase it. Its also important that you pick up the medication as soon as possible once prescribed to start managing your condition effectively.
Steps for getting your prescription filled:
- Consult Your Doctor: Confirm all details with your physician regarding dosage, frequency, and duration.
- Prescription Order: Once the doctor finalizes it, ensure they send it directly to your pharmacy or give you a paper copy to bring in person.
- Fill at Pharmacy: Take your prescription to the pharmacy and wait for them to dispense it according to whats written on the script.
Remember, never share your medication with others; its dosing is tailored specifically to your needs.
