Forum Topic: Where Can You Buy Prednisone?

Hey everyone,

I have been prescribed some prednisone for an allergic reaction. Im not sure where to purchase it since my local pharmacy doesnt seem to carry it in stock right now. Any advice on where else I could get it? Thanks!

Hi ConfusedCat,

Its important that you obtain prednisone from a legitimate source, such as a licensed pharmacist or through a doctor's prescription. If your local pharmacy doesnt have it in stock, they should be able to order it for you.

Can I ask why your pharmacy doesn't have it on hand? Sometimes pharmacies will need time to fulfill an order if the medication isnt typically stocked regularly due to its usage frequency and storage needs.

Hi DrSmoothie,

Thanks for the quick response. My pharmacist mentioned they don't stock it because of the short-term use nature of prednisone, but I need it immediately as my allergic reaction has been getting worse. Are there any online pharmacies that you would recommend?

ConfusedCat,

I understand your concern and urgency. Online pharmacies can be a good option if they are reputable and licensed to dispense prescription medications.

However, it's crucial to ensure the pharmacy is legitimate before placing any order. Look for ones that require a valid prescription from a doctor and check if they have accreditation such as VIPPS (Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites) or similar certifications.

Avoid purchasing from websites that do not require a prescription or seem suspicious in their practices.

Hey ConfusedCat,

DrSmoothie is absolutely right. When looking for an online pharmacy, always verify its legitimacy by checking the accreditation and customer reviews. Some trusted names include:

  • Canada Drugs: They have good reputations and often offer competitive prices.
  • Medicine Shoppe International: Another solid option with a long-standing reputation.

Just make sure you provide your prescription details accurately to avoid any delays or issues.

ConfusedCat,

In addition to what MedMaven101 mentioned, I'd also recommend reaching out to your doctor and letting them know about the situation. They might be able to prescribe an alternative medication that is more readily available at a local pharmacy.

Also, if you are in urgent need of treatment for your allergic reaction, consider visiting an emergency room or clinic where they can provide immediate care.
